Mechanic – defined in the Oxford dictionary as “ A skilled worker who repairs and maintains vehicle engines and other machinery “ .

No finer examples locally than the two Hyland boys that feature in the first photograph here.
This striking image of Mike and Bill Hyland was taken at the family home in Kilvolan, Caherlistrane back in 1966.The car is a Ford Consul.

The second photograph of Bill Hyland's Garage just across the bridge in Shrule, is from the early eighties.

Both photographs are courtesy of and with thanks to Geraldine Monaghan 👏- with thanks also to Liam Donoghue.👍

Over the years the streetscape in Shrule Village has changed just a little....

These historic images , from different ends of the street, come courtesy of Martin Ryan.
We cannot put a date for certain on the first photograph but we do know that the second one comes from all of 53 years ago, from the year 1965.

A big thanks to Liam Donoghue for his great work with both photographs.
