Lynch<\/p><\/div>\n

Pierce Lynch moved to Shrulegrove about 1610 where he built a castle house, referred to as \u201cLynch\u2019s House\u201d, he was a tenant of Lord Clanricarde. His younger brother was Rev. Dr. Dominick Lynch, rector of the College of St. Thomas of Aquin in Seville in Spain. Of the same branch of that family the Most Rev. James Lynch is supposed to have belonged, he became the archbishop of Tuam in 1669.<\/p>\n

Pierce married, his second wife, Anna Joyce, widow of Henry Joyce, the same man who is supposed to have left his name to Joycepark. The Lynchs of Shrulegrove were removed to Ballycurran by the Cromwellians, they stayed there only for a short while. The Lynchs of Ballycurran were from another branch of the tribe and did not move there until 1679.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>1649-1672 Coin or Token issued by Patrick Lynch of Shruel (Shrewel)\u00a0 stored in the British Museum , item 1933,0413.959<\/a>\u00a0 . This is a metal alloy token , value One Penny issued by Patrick Lynch of Shrule House then situated in Shrule Grove (near Alan Dowd\u2019s) . Tokens as this were used as local currency .<\/p>\n

The coin weighs\u00a0 1.08 grammes and has been catalogued in Williamson 1889 as the following :<\/p>\n
