Hi! I’m trying to find out information regarding the Shrule family from Brackloon Shrule. My Nanna was born Bridget Davin in 1935, with siblings Sally (1933), Mary (1937) and John (1938). They were born to Patrick Davin and Bridget Davin (Cottingham). If anyone could help I’d be most appreciative!

  4. I have lots of information on the Davin’s of Brackloon My father parents came from there.

In reference to the Davin name. I can help you. I was once big in geneology tracing my ancestors. I’m going back to Ireland in Sept. 2019 to visit some cousins which I’m sure ur related to. As far as Stephen Carty is concerned, I have a letter from him to my grandfather Richard from the 1930s. He describes how Brackloon has changed so much. Keep in touch if you still interested.

Hello, I am looking for any information on the Davin family from Brackloon. My grandmother was Norah (Honor) Davin, born in 1899, the daughter of Patrick Davin and Sarah Casey. Her brothers were Michael, Patrick (and possibly Richard), also a sister named Mary. Many emigrated to New York and Massachusetts. I would like to find a local historian or someone who knows this family’s history. I am planning to visit the area soon. Anything would help! Thank you!

My Great-Grandfather, Daniel Gilmore (who lived at Deerpark) (1852-1918) worked at Dalgan Park as a carpenter/wheelright. He was married to Julia Coyne (who was from Shrule) and they had 17 children. If you have any information, I’d be very grateful.

You need to contact Marlene McCarty Doherty, in Larchmont, Iowa. She has a copy of your family history, with many pictures. She maybe able to ID some of the pictures you have. I left a message on your Facebook page. Contact me through that.

I am looking for names of children of Thomas and Mary Egan 1793-1867 Shrule, Ireland. I have son Patrick who married Honora Carty but I need Patricks brothers and sisters if possible. Especially Margaret Egan who’s daughter married John Reilly/Riley.

    • Mike JohnsonSeptember 9, 2013 @ 3:08 am

To my knowledge, Patrick, was an only child. There is speculation from some of the relatives, that there may have been a brother named William but there is no proof of that. There is another Patrick Egan that lived in the Brodoulgh (sp) section of Shrule. The two families are not related.
Patrick and Honora had 12 children, Mary, James, Martin, Delia, Margaret, John, Patrick, Michael, Honor, Thomas, Stephen and Katherine. The Margaret listed above is not the Margaret you are looking for. This Margaret married a Costello and had two sons in Springfield, Mass. USA. I am not aware of Margaret Egan you have listed from either of the Egan families of Shrule.
Contact me at loukennel@att.net and I can send you any info that I have.
