Shrule Community Centre

Our community centre is a facility for all the community to use. There are a variety of rooms available for renting and we would hope this facility will be utilised more and more from now. At present we have quite a number of classes and activities ongoing in the Centre, such as Zumba dancing on Mondays, Self Defence classes on Tuesdays, Dance Zone classes on Wednesdays, Irish Dancing classes, and Ceili Dancing on Thursdays. As well as all those quite a number of the local clubs and groups use the Centre as well: Shrule Glencorrib GAA, Shrule Vintage Club, the Active Retirement group, the No Name Club and Bord na nÓg. There is also a Bookshop in the Centre.

The Bookshop / Reading Room

New opening times for the Bookshop / Reading Room are on Saturdays 13:00-15:00. Come and browse the shelves and walk away with some real bargains! No book costs more than €1 because all the books are donated and all the proceeds go to paying for the costs involved in running the service. 5. LOCAL CULTURE & HISTORY

37th St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2013

The Shrule St. Patrick’s Day Committee are pleased to announce the 37th St Patrick’s Day Parade will take place Sunday morning, March 17. Here is a message from the committee:

A Chara,

Yes, it’s that time of the year and Shrule branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann is happy to organise and sponsor this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

We are asking all schools, clubs, groups, companies, football clubs, soccer clubs, the Foroige Club, the No Name Club, etc and individuals to participate with floats, street entertainment or in any other way to make our parade better than last year. We would be grateful if business people and private residents in the town could make a special effort with displays, flags and bunting so the town could be as colourful as possible.

The best overall float will be awarded the Jack Reynold’s Cup and a cash prize. Assembly time for all those taking part in the parade is 10:30 am at St. Joseph’s Church. The Parade will then move off at 11:45 am sharp. This year’s Parade will again be led by our local unit of the FCÁ [An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil]. Please assemble behind the appropriate board markings for your categories.

On behalf of the Shrule branch of Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann and the Parade committee we thank you for all your support and hope you all have a safe day. Beannacht lá Fhéile Phádraig!

Shrule St. Patrick’s Day Committee.
